Fun Run Sold Out

Organizers of the Fun Run report that this popular event is filled to capacity, and no additional participants can be accommodated. Pre-registered participants may still pick up race materials beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, June 8, outside the Anaheim Convention Center, where the Fun Run will take place.

funrunHow will you support the next generation of food science professionals? Join your peers on Monday, June 8, at the Anaheim Convention Center for the 9th annual Fun Run 5K/3.1 mile run/walk. Proceeds from this event are designated for IFT Foundation scholarships. The IFT Foundation is a community of donors who promote the education, service, and research that advance access to safe and nutritious food. IFT Foundation programs raise awareness of food science and technology while guiding students who will one day meet the needs of a growing global population.

Fun Run registration starts at 6 a.m. on June 8, and the race begins at 6:30 a.m. at the adjacent main entrance on W. Convention Way. All onsite tickets are $30.

Here are ways you can register for the Fun Run:

  • Visit the IFT Ticket Booth in the registration area of the convention center on Sunday, June 7, from noon to 5 p.m.
  • Visit the Fun Run Booth in Lobby C of the convention center on Sunday, June 7, from 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Register onsite the day of the race at 6 a.m.

If you pre-register prior to the race day, you may pick up your race bib at the Fun Run Booth on Sunday, June 7. Fun Run participants will receive a t-shirt and goody bag with product donations. The top three male and female 5K runners will receive a plaque. Certificates will also be presented to the team with the most participants, the team with the best costume, and the team with the most sponsorship dollars.
A Cannon digital camera will be awarded to the top fundraiser.

Prior to the race, buses to the Anaheim Convention Center will depart at 5:45 a.m. from the Howard Johnson Anaheim Resort and the Hyatt Regency Orange County Hotel. Following the race, buses from the Anaheim Convention Center will depart at 7:30 a.m. and return to the Howard Johnson Anaheim Resort and the Hyatt Regency Orange County Hotel.

If waking up early isn’t your specialty, you can still contribute to IFT Foundation scholarships. Register onsite at the IFT Ticket Desk as an “I Slept in for the Fun Run” donor for $30.

“I have the opportunity to one day make a big impact on the world. Food science combines business, science, and creativity. Food is a universal language that connects people all over the world. I want to contribute back to the organization that has supported me.”
