When it comes to getting the job done, technical skills are critically important, but management and business leadership abilities count, too. For that reason, IFT has partnered with SkillPath, a business training provider, to offer a series of Professional Development sessions at no additional cost to Annual Meeting attendees.

Here’s a look at what’s available this year. All sessions take place in Room 201D on Tuesday, June 9.

Fundamentals of Successful Project Management
8:30–10 a.m.
Develop the skills required to become a project management superstar—effectively guiding a project from bright idea to bottom-line result. Those who attend will learn how to create a project plan, implement it, monitor its progress, correct it as necessary, and—most important of all—deliver as promised. The focus will be on practical applications and skills that can be applied immediately.

How to Become a Better Communicator
10:30 a.m.–noon
Powerful communication skills can propel you along the path to career success and personal achievement, leading you to job satisfaction and professional advancement. Of course, dealing with others isn’t always easy—which is why this session will provide practical advice on successfully interacting with others and creating a more polished and professional image.

Excelling as a Manager or Supervisor
1:15–2:45 p.m.
Participants in this session will develop the skills needed to “lead” rather than “boss.” The seminar instructor will offer insights on motivating employees, working through conflict and difficult behaviors, and establishing the credibility and authority needed to organize constantly shifting projects, priorities, and deadlines.
