There was a buzz of excitement in the air on Monday, June 8, as over 350 people stretched and limbered up for the IFT Foundation’s 9th Annual Fun Run. In total, participants raised over $50,000 this year for IFT Foundation scholarships. Among the runners, Cornell University had the largest team and with the name Food Fighters they were a force to be reckoned with. Also in attendance was Bruce Ferree, California Natural Products, who won a digital camera for raising the most money—a total of $2,165. Just for participating, all runners received a t-shirt and goody bag that included healthy snack food, toothpaste, and tea.
The race got off to a great start at 6:30 a.m. and at the end of the 3.1 miles it was clear that many were taking the “fun” run very seriously. The top three men and women runners were as follows:
Men
• Thad Schroeder (photo, left), with a time of 16:35
• Steven Powell, with a time of 16:56
• John Norkus, with a time of 18:23
Women
• Rachel Prososki (photo, left), with a time of 19:40
• Catherine Lee, with a time of 19:51
• Jennifer Evancio, with a time of 22:08
